The airport corporation will also receive $300,000 to help pay for an environmental study at Newport State Airport in Middletown. The project will analyze the environmental impacts of the five-year capital projects identified in the recently completed airport master plan update.
“The Rhode Island Airport Corporation continues to do an outstanding job operating and maintaining the state’s six state-owned airports,” said Rep. Patrick Kennedy, who announced the award. “These funds will go a long way to complete the many projects that focus on increased travel safety and will allow the corporation to look ahead to future needs.”
