Money for Newport Airport

Those living near the middletown airport (Newport Airport) need to keep an eye for ongoing projects there. Remember, your input is legally required. They don't hold local meetings on this project just to be nice! Ignore at your own peril.

The state airport corporation [RIAC] will... receive $300,000 to help pay for an environmental study at Newport State Airport in Middletown. The project will analyze the environmental impacts of the five-year capital projects identified in the recently completed airport master plan update.

“The Rhode Island Airport Corporation continues to do an outstanding job operating and maintaining the state’s six state-owned airports,” said Rep. Patrick Kennedy, who announced the award. “These funds will go a long way to complete the many projects that focus on increased travel safety and will allow the corporation to look ahead to future needs.”
