No Progress On Tiverton Schools Negotiations

**UPDATE** After waiting 1 1/2 hrs. Superintendent Rearick notified the NEA negotiating team from Tiverton that it was a no-go & the next meeting could not be scheduled until Tues. at 8 a.m. Sometimes I hate to be right. From now on I think that you'll see both sides playing one-upmanship in the press. It takes two to tango. You need both sides committed to working out an agreement. I know that the teachers are. "It's going to be a bumpy ride!" And Happy Labor Day.

"The members of NEA Tiverton announce that the Tiverton School Committee has agreed to meet with the Union negotiating committee Sunday morning at 10 AM. The meeting will take place at Tiverton High School. The 200 members of NEA Tiverton, an affiliate of NEA-RI, voted to authorize a strike starting Tuesday morning if significant progress is not met towards a new agreement. The Union has a health care proposal that will save the district and taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars over the life of the contract, but the school committee has rejected it in favor of a higher cost plan.'"
Good luck! I wonder if it will actually happen.
