Rep. Long Proud of Himself

The "Newport Daily News" contains an article on Rep. Long today with some additional info. At one point the reporter who spoke with Long on the phone says that he sounded "weary."

You can read the details of his financial dealings. It seems to me that his wife is correct & that he has been grossly underreporting his income. Remember, he's been earning in the high 12's as a Legislator, & his wife' salary was probably in the high teens or low twenties. So when facts say that he declared income in the 40's and 30's, it includes these salaries.

Much of Del's $ is made at special events and are cash tranactions. But he has to buy the special mix, so one should be able to backtrack earnings. He actually seems to be declaring about $10,000-$15,000/yr. income. Hard to believe. Says he & his accountant & lawyer are now working with the IRS but there is no way to verify this.

His daughter receives reduced hot lunch due to family income. Her mom has to pay about $670/mo. for state health insurance.

While the article quotes that he has substance abuse problems, it neglects to mention what substance - COKE, it's COCAINE - very expensive & illegal. It also neglects to mention the affairs while he was married or the spousal abuse. And missing is how he threatened her with loss of all funding if she made the deposition public.

Lastly, of course, "I've been elected 14 times," he said. "I've worked very hard. I take great pride in the work that I've done. I've never used my office for my own benefit." Nope, lying & cheating, spousal abuse, cheating his family from income - ALL for OUR benefit. Give me a break. Give your family a break & get out of the spotlight.

Hey, take the poll (once).
