Budget Implications for Middletown's Admin. Leaving
Cost of Town Administrator leaving? Here is a friend's conservative estimate:
1/2 year salary $50k
Medical $8k
Consultant (for new search) $20k
Moving Expenses $10k
Increased Salary $10k
Total - About $98k
Missing are Legal costs : $6,000; costs for an interim Town Admin. (6 mos.) $60,000, 8K in medical. Could also be some retirement or 401(k) expenses, or even vacation pay involved. Since the Town Finance Dir. is now pro-tem, there may extra costs involved for someone taking over his job. We're talking in the neighborhood of$200,000. Enough to call back some laid off teachers, I think.
