Healthcare

Rhode Island's Twelfth
Sorry, life has slowed me down and thrown a few curves.

My father-in-law, Jerome Spillane, died last Friday after a relatively short bout with cancer. Both Jerome & Betty had recently moved to Blenheim from their Newport home. The funeral was Tues. at St. Joe's (where they both were married). Jerome was 93. My husband, Frank, gave the eulogy which he had worked on & practiced (to help keep himself from crying when reading it) for a few days. It was very moving and when I'm a bit more up to it, I'll publish it.

That evening we went to the Sheldon Whitehouse community dinner. Frank had promised to intro him. He was doing this as they wanted someone from the local community to speak towards healthcare. I told him earlier that he didn't have to do this & I would cancel out for him. But no. He even wanted the funeral arrangements for Mon. & Tues. rather than Tues. & Wed. He told his sister that he had to be free at 7 p.m. on Tues. The best way, he thought, to honor his father (an Irish immigrant), was to speak & show support for Sheldon & his commitment towards healthcare coverage.

Eileen, I'm sorry to hear about your father-in-law. If you want to hear about a spooky coincidence, I was driving past St. Joseph's on Tuesday during the funeral; I passed by the hearse and the funeral home limo. I'm not used to seeing bits of my own life turn up in other peoples' blogs. Ask not for whom the bell tolls, indeed.

It's good to see you blogging again. I noticed that you seem to be having some trouble with your links. I'd be happy to stop over sometime and help you de-bug them.

Thanks!
Hadn't realized the links weren't working. Fixed most of them & working on the district map. Sometimes it's simple.
