House District 74 Race

Jamestown Resident and Business Woman Seeks State Representative Seat in District 74

Deborah Ruggiero, Democrat of Jamestown, filed recently for candidacy in House District 74, Jamestown and parts of Middletown. Ruggiero, is a native Rhode Islander and Director of Community and Business Development for Citadel Radio.

A long time community leader and activist, Ruggiero created the award winning radio/TV show AMAZING WOMEN on WPRO AM & 99.7 FM which highlights the work of women who make a difference in the community. Ruggiero has spent years learning from and listening to Rhode Islanders fighting to make their communities better places to live.

Ruggiero states “It is time for change. I am fed up with legislators who promise much and deliver little. I pledge to represent all the people of District 74, to be accessible and accountable: working hard to improve our struggling economy, improve access to affordable health care and fight to protect our water and coastline.”

As a taxpayer in Jamestown, Ruggiero knows first hand the difficulties facing Rhode Islanders: paying for gas to travel to work off the Island, struggling to get affordable accessible health care and protecting the state’s natural treasures. Seeking election for the first time, Ruggiero intends to unseat the long time incumbent and bring a breath of fresh air to the RI General Assembly.

Born in Providence, to John and Dorothy Ruggiero 1st generation Italian immigrants and Hope High School sweethearts, Ruggiero is a product of Rhode Island public schools, and a magna cum laude graduate from Boston College. In addition to serving as an adjunct faculty member at Providence College since 1992 Ruggiero is a Rotary member, Past President of the American Lung Association of RI, and former Big Sister.

*I love it when people send me statements already to go. Deb is running against Rep. Bruce Long. and yes, if he sent me an announcement, I'd run it, too.
