Health Care Professionals to Stand Up for Kids and Families
Doctors, nurses and students unite to proclaim RIte Care is Right for RI
Rhode Island Medical Society, the Rhode Island State Nurses Association, the American Academy of Pediatrics, The American College of Physicians, and the American Medical Students Association RI Chapter will illustrate that RIte Care is a gold standard among health care plans in this nation and will highlight better, more responsible reforms within the Medicaid program.

Donna Policastro, RNP – Executive Director RI State Nurses Association
Dr. Yul Ejnes – American College of Physicians
Dr. Andrew Snyder - member of the RI Medical Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics
Professor David Rochefort – Political Science Department, Northeastern University
Where: Rotunda, RI State House When: January 23, 2008 at 3:30pm
Following the press conference, medical and nursing students will hand deliver hundreds of postcards from Rhode Islanders who support the RIte Care program to the General Assembly.
Leaders from the medical and advocacy community will stand together as they exhort to the General Assembly the importance of protecting the RIte Care Program from cuts found in the Governor's 2008 Supplemental budget.
Nick Tsiongas, President of the RI Medical Society commented on the event: "Health care professionals are hosting this action to express our disbelief that this proposal has even seen the light of day. We plan to highlight the quality of this nationally recognized program. The fact is, we can not cut our way out of the state's current structural deficit. There are more responsible alternatives we must look to."
