Senator Gibbs Dances the Sidestep

Remember the Governor in "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas?" At one point he is speaking to reporters & then trying to avoid them when the questions get too hard. Sound familiar?

Ohhhhhh - I love to dance the little sidestep / Now they see me, now they don't
I've come and gone / And ohhhhhhhhh, I love to sweep around a wide step / Cut
a little swatch and lead - the - peo-ple - on!

Senator Gibbs has done this dance before & is doing it again. Just walks off the floor & casts no vote either for or against. Recently it was on Jackson's bill (Newport & Middletown). Yes, Jackson is part of the Twelfth! Last yr. he intro'd a bill to change the formula by which time-shares are taxed & make it more in line with how ALL other states do it. Yes, it passed. Senator Gibbs voted yes. But it was shot down by the Guv!

This yr. it was re-introduced & again passed. But get this! Sen. Gibbs cast no vote! Zero, Zilch, Nada! Her own district! This would give Newport much needed funding amounting to millions. And no vote! And not one word in the press!!

She did it on two more bills 2654 & 7352. Weak bladder or something else? She cast a "No" vote on 3175 which would require easy access to public records & require them to be stored in-state. Huh? At least she voted.

But then maybe I'm expecting too much from someone who decides how to vote based on who asks first (see below). Hmm. Maybe it's time to give another "Flying Fickle Finger of Fate" award.
