Not using this bridge (we don't have that many) is virtually impossible. Aquidneck Island is a MAJOR source of income for the State (think Navy base.) Telling people that they have other options doesn't work that well.
Our sole fee bridge now has E-Z Pass, but turns out that it's not all that easy. It has a gate.

Thanks for the comment. I haven't made it out to Kansas, but I have been to Mo. Lots of land. We're a tad cramped here.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16403055132710223869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-24140588.post-63198539219078293562009-01-08T23:35:00.000-05:002009-01-08T23:35:00.000-05:00If a "fee" is money each USER pays for using somet...If a "fee" is money each USER pays for using something, while a "tax" is money EVERYONE pays WHETHER OR NOT they use that something, why *I* should pay for YOUR use if *I* choose to NOT use that something? Are you basically trying to get something for nothing? (Sorta like "taxation without representation"!)

Bridge fees may be based on where you live, but YOU choose/chose to live there, and if you don't like bridge fees, choose to move somewhere else!

Or are you really complaining about long/slow lines? With modern technology, collecting user fees does NOT have to involve lines; even out here in the middle of nowhere (Kansas), turnpike users can put a K-TAG on their windshields and breeze right through all 21 toll gates. And if I don't want to pay the turnpike tolls, I can choose to drive on smaller/slower highways.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
